On Repensar los derechos humanos, by Ángeles Ródenas (ed.)
This review analyzes some reflections elaborated by twelve authors about substantive issues of traditional human rights theories. These aspects are systematized around the following sections: The relevance of the philosophical perspective in the critical review of human rights conceptions; the problem of the foundation of human rights; the absolute character as an essential property of this rights; the problem that fundamental rights lose its limit role to collective interest; the human dignity as a principle that allows, but also limits, individual autonomy; the effective exercise of autonomy against the presupposition of the autonomous agent; the problem of the universality of human rights in a context of plurality and diversity; the importance of the international system; and the rejection of a conception of rights and duties focused on the State.
