Afterword: Time to Rethink the Democracy-Constitutionalism Relationship
The general aim of this paper is to rethink the relationship between democracy and constitutionalism. This reflection is carried out in dialogue with certain questions raised by the participants in this special issue. After an introduction, the paper is structured in the following parts. First, I analyse some key points of the conception of democracy that we assume as a regulative ideal. Second, I examine the opposite extreme: the most relevant aspects of the conception of constitutionalism that we take as a point of reference. Finally, I conclude with some final remarks.
